I'll be honest: everything I know about Flash I learned from crossover events. Great observation and writing by Johns and this aspect of this very good GN is only a part of why the Flash story is so cool. Iris makes a great statement – that the fastest man alive is “emotionally standing still”. DC writers have long had fun with him being late for everything, and that’s a joke that just keeps being funny, but another aspect of Allen’s life that Johns explores is his work life balance that is seriously skewed the wrong way. Say what you will about Bruce Wayne and his emotional hang ups, there have likely been psychological books written about Wayne’s psyche, but Barry Allen is also a pretty messed up dude.
